I. Brainstorming Technique
Brainstorming is a popular technique that helps the students generate creative solutions to a problem. It is particularly useful when they want to break out of stale, established patterns of thinking, so that they can develop new ways of looking at things. It also helps to overcome many of the issues that can make group problem-solving a sterile and unsatisfactory process. Used with their team, it helps them bring the diverse experience of all team members into play during problem solving. This increases the richness of ideas explored, meaning that they can find better solutions to the problems you face. It can also help get buy in from team members for the solution chosen – after all, they were involved in developing it. What’s more, because brainstorming is fun, it helps team members bond with one-another as they solve problems in a positive, rewarding environment. Besides, students can use to generate ideas for writing a paper and speaking everything that they think. In the process of brainstorming they should suspend any concerns about staying organized. The goal is to pour our thoughts onto paper without worrying about whether they make sense or how they fit together. Because students have different learning styles, some students will be uncomfortable with the disorganized frenzy of spilling thoughts onto paper. For instance, left brained students and sequential thinking students may not benefit from the process if it becomes too cluttered. There are more organized ways to brainstorm, however. For this reason, we’ll explore a few ways to get the same results. Find the one that feels most comfortable to them.

II. Brainstorming technique for improving writing and speaking skill.
Competency-based English curriculum includes the four language skills, such as : listening, speaking, reading and writing. Speaking skill is the productive skill in the oral mode. It like the other skills, is more complicated than it seems at first and involves more than just pronouncing words, from this skill we can transfer what we think or hear to make the other understand. And writing is one of language skill that must be acquired by the students. This way of making meaning from experience for ourselves and for others. For many of us, writing serves as the most available and the most compelling way because the outcome, visible language, is a satisfyingly permanent record of thought and feeling.
And brainstorming technique appropriate for improving speaking and writing skill where the students can tell what they think without worrying about the mistake. With this technique we try to make speaking and writing easily, because the students free to think and give information about the topic. And the students can then be responsible for recording the thoughts and ideas which are simply written up on a wall, flip chart or blackboard for all to see. It is suggested that an effective brainstorming session should last for no more than 30 - 40 minutes. Once the session has been completed, thought can then be given to selecting ideas to move forward for further consideration and evaluation.

III. The steps of brainstorming technique
There are some steps to do the brainstorming technique, such as in making descriptive text. We can give a little explanation of descriptive text and ask them to :
  • Form groups consist of 2 students, the first student as a speaker and the second student as a writer.
  • Choose title or topic of their paper at the head of paper.
  • Think of three or four categories that would serve as subtopics. They can start by thinking how they could break best down their topic into smaller sections. What sort of features could they use to divide it? They could consider time periods, ingredients, or sections of their subject matter.
  • The first student speak everything what they think based on the topic and subtopic, without worrying to make a mistake.
  • And the second student, write down what the speaker say each of their subtopics, leaving a few inches of space between each item.
  • Make bullets under each subtopic. If they find need more space than they have provided under each category, they can transfer their subtopic to a new sheet of paper.
  • Don't worry about the order of their subjects as they write; they will put it into order once they have exhausted all their ideas.
  • Once they have emptied their brain, take a short break from their work.
  • When they return with a fresh and rested mind, glance over their work to see what kinds of patterns emerge.
  • Number their main ideas so they create a flow of information.
  • They have a rough outline for their paper!
IV. Advantages and Disadvantages of brainstorming technique
In this technique maybe have some advantages and disadvantages during teaching learning process, such as :
1. Advantages :
  •  You don't have to be a highly qualified expert or highly paid consultant to use it 
  • Easy to understand - it's not a complicated technique 
  • It is inexpensive                                                  
  • If controlled properly it is a quick way of generating ideas 
  • Encourages creative thinking and thinking "out of the box" 
  • Generates ideas and solutions that can be used elsewhere 
  • Provides an opportunity for widespread participation and involvement
2. Disadvantages
  • Can take too much time if the group is not properly controlled and is allowed to run for too long. 
  • Raising expectations of the brainstorming group by considering ideas that will never be implemented.
