What Is Assessment In English...???

Assessment is a process of information gathering undertaken to improve the educational program that focuses on student learning outcomes and this is a scientific effort in data collection. Assessments provide faculty with a better understanding of what your students are learning and engage students more deeply in the process of learning. By using assessment strategies that draw students into the assessment process it is more likely that they learn more of the geosciences content that you want them to learn while getting the added benefits of learning skills that will be useful to them in the future.
Listening, speaking, reading and writing are the most important features in language skills which are not easy to measure. Language skills are very complex and closely related to the context in which they are used as well as many non-linguistic skills that it may often seem impossible to distinguish them in any kind of assessment. In language testing, testing gives useful input to the teacher in order to be careful of the effect of his/her teaching whether the teaching strategy is well-planned or it does not give an improvement to students. In addition, the teacher must consider to make the test well and also it should be valid, reliable and constructed well based on standard competence.

Types of assessment
Typically, assessment efforts are divided into two types, formative or summative.

Formative Assessment
Formative assessment implies that the results will be used in the formation and revision process of an educational effort.  Formative assessments are used in the improvement of educational programs. This type of assessment is the most common form of assessment in higher education, and it constitutes a large proportion of TLL’s assessment work. Since educators are continuously looking for ways to strengthen their educational efforts, this type of constructive feedback is valuable.

Summative Assessment
Summative assessment is used for the purpose of documenting outcomes and judging value.  It is used for providing feedback to instructors about the quality of a subject or program, reporting to stakeholders and granting agencies, producing reports for accreditation, and marketing the attributes of a subject or program. Most studies of this type are rarely exclusively summative in practice, and they usually contain some aspects of formative assessment.
